Problem areas: Hair, (not the arm hair; that's not done and is baaaaad right now) anatomy, drama?

This is the first piece I've done since I was told I don't have carpel tunnel, so I'm a bit rusty. On the other hand, maybe I've shaken some bad habits?

[ETA: proper formating. D'oh!]

I think the hair looks preeeetty! I'm also not qualified to give tips for digital coloring either, but for true. To me, it looks great!

What I would like to see is more indication of the toher person. Where is that arm coming from? What is it attached to? Is that person shaped the exact same as the foreground guy, or it he smaller? The way the arm is angled, I feel like I should be seeing indication on a shoulder and/or facial aspects (jaw, ear, hair, etc).

Unless of course you were intending to put that all in and I'm just being impatient and demanding. *HEE*

I think the hair and skin coloring looks great!

My only problem is that the hand looks a bit odd because you can't see the ends of the fingers on the middle, ring and pinky finger. Maybe, if you want to have it like they're covered by his hair, you could have more of a disturbance, like hair out of place or raised by his fingers. Right now, it's a bit too smoothed down to look like it's got fingers tangled in it. Also, there's not a lot of skin color difference between the arm and the body, and I'm assuming they're from different bodies, so maybe have more of a difference so it's more obvious they're different people.

ps, when I first saw where you said "anatomy, drama?", for a second there, I thought you might be addressing me, which was a bit worrisome. *dorks out*

I think this is so sexy - it's always what you *don't* see that's most intriguing. Also, my first concrit here at artbeta, just fyi.

I think the hair has too many highlights in it - you seem to have even lighting on the head, but a definite light source on the back and arm. It makes the hair look either grey-streaked or the head somewhat flat across the back. The hair itself is brilliant - I think it's just the lighting that's throwing it a bit.

Also, the ring finger of the hand looks almost broken, curving unnaturally back to the right a tiny bit too much. I understand that you want to get that grasp in there, but following the lines of the rest of the hand and fingers, that one in particular is just a little wonky. Also, it's a bit thick above the second knuckle.

Double check that lighting source - the left side seems too bright to me, from the neck up. His shoulder is in shadow but the fingers and hair are not.

One more completely nitpicky thing - the right ear seems too low in comparison with the left. We see the tip of the right ear and along the same visual line, the curve of the left. I wouldn't lower the left, I'd raise the right, which will help distinguish it from the thumb anyway.

I absolutely love the concept for this, and the skin is positively touchable.

just a comment on the light source... if you happen to be on a laptop or have a chance to view your piece on one, move the screen up and down (flat and upright) and see what difference it makes when (in this case) the light is coming from the bettom :)

My first reaction is that possibly the back needs more texture/highlights... It's looking a bit flat at the moment.

Other than that, I love the hair and the hand. The hand is just great.

Oh. Wow.

Anyways, as stated i think the hair covering the fingers look adburbtly cut off and awkward.

Also, how old is the male whose back is towards us? I think that the (amazing) highlights lean towards grey hairs. Though I think that is just me since I don't have any idea to change that... So never-mind...? I don't know, but wow.

I think it looks wonderful! I think the hair (not arm hair) looks really silky and and soft! What on earth do you think is wrong with it?
